Jay Poynter

Jay is a licensed tax attorney with the State Bar of Texas. His practice area focuses primarily on tax controversy matters at the federal, state, and local levels. Prior to joining The Wilson Firm, Jay served businesses across numerous industries throughout the United States and internationally as a mergers and acquisitions tax associate.

Prior to that, Jay received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas, where he acted as the Staff Editor of the Texas Journal of Civil Liberties and Civil Rights. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard University majoring in English.

Jay was born and raised in Washington, District of Columbia. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, fitness, and trying new steakhouses. He is also a published author of several books of poetry.

Jay is actively involved in The Woodlands community. He is currently a member of the Woodlands Chamber of Commerce.
